125 years of service
On March 17, 2016, and throughout the year, West Virginia State University celebrated 125 years as an institution dedicated to service, access and opportunity benefitting the State of West Virginia and its citizens. West Virginia State University is an institution with a rich, storied history that has served with enduring purpose and unwavering drive, resulting in a monumental impact. During its 125th years of service events, the West Virginia State family had a unique opportunity to reflect upon the University’s significant service to the communities in which we live and work—service that is bolstered by the incredible progress of the past 125 years.
On March 17, 2016, West Virginia State University students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends joined together to celebrate 125 years of service as an institution dedicated to service, access and opportunity benefitting the State of West Virginia and its citizens.

Since its creation, State has played a role in transforming the lives of generations of families, and served as the springboard for thousands of successful careers. Generation after generation, our students have come to Institute to find their passion, and have left instilled with greater purpose to better not only themselves but the world around them.

Reflect and celebrate State through our 125 Years of Service Tribute video.
