Our Approach

West Virginia State University is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace for all members of our community. As a values-driven university, we take seriously our commitment to responsibility and excellence as they correspond to our response to the coronavirus pandemic. This document provides guidance for managing the university’s expectations for the safe return of faculty and staff to workspaces and common areas on campus after remote working, quarantine, illness or leave, due to the novel coronavirus, COVID-19. The university’s approach is informed by guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources, and the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department .
 
West Virginia State University students, faculty and staff worked hard to successfully complete the spring 2021 semester. Congratulations on the healthy payoff for all of your diligence in following the 3 W’s of washing your hands, watching your social distance and wearing a face covering .

 

Return to Campus Schedule

All non-vaccinated employees and students will be required to provide either a negative COVID-19 test or proof of vaccination prior to returning to campus on August 16, 2021. Students, faculty and staff are highly recommended to participate in the mass testing and vaccine clinics held on campus August 16 and August 19 and on-going throughout the fall semester.

Students

WVSU’s fall semester will begin Monday, August 16, 2021.
 
Freshman and athletic residential students will begin arriving on campus in stages . Students with last names A-M will return Tuesday, August 10, 2021; N-Z will return Wednesday, August 11, 2021. Returning students A-M will return Friday, August 13, 2021; N-Z will return Saturday, August 14, 2021. All non-vaccinated residential students will have to provide a negative COVID-19 test to Mr . Derrien Williams, Housing and Residence Life Director . All non- vaccinated non-residential students will have to provide a negative COVID-19 test to https://liquidfiles.wvstateu.edu/filedrop/COVID-19Student before obtaining access to the campus. Test must be taken 3 to 5 days prior to your return to campus and results must be submitted or presented upon your return. We are encouraging anyone that may assist students moving in to please self- examine and if you are exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19 or Influenza to please refrain from entering campus.
 
International students that may have been unable to obtain a COVID-19 test in their home will be allowed to get tested on Thursday, August 12, 2021 from 9:00 a .m . to 4:00 p .m . at FamilyCare in the Wilson University Union.
