Student Spotlight

Kasey Murphy

Meet Kasey Murphy! She’s a graduate student from Coal Grove, Ohio, who is working on her master’s in Criminal Justice degree. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from WVSU and is a softball player for the Lady Yellow Jackets. She would like to pursue a career with the FBI. Here’s a little bit more about her:

Why did you choose your major? “My dad is a current police officer back home and I’ve always been interested in crime scene analysis and how the investigations are solved.”

Why did you choose WVSU? “I received a good offer here for softball and when I came to the campus, it was small enough where I would see familiar faces everywhere I go and it’s not too big. It has a home feeling to it.”

Favorite class so far? “My advanced forensic science class.”

Favorite movie and TV show? “The Shack” and “Law & Order: SVU.”

If someone visited Coal Grove, what local places would you suggest they visit? “Our local Freezette, which isn’t a fast food place but it’s similar to fast food.”
