ADVISORY BOARD
College of Business & Social Sciences
The College of Business & Social Sciences (CBSS) benefits from the advice and support of a group of distinguished leaders who serve on its Advisory Board. Its members represent a broad cross-section of organizations, industries and sectors.
The Board provides the Dean and College with advice on strategy and direction and various initiatives related to programs, students, community engagement and philanthropy. In addition, Board members advocate for CBSS in the community and serve as its ambassadors.
Purpose & Functions
The overall purpose of the College Advisory Board (CAB) is to help further its mission and strategic initiatives. It acts as a consultative and supportive body of leadership, influence and guiding force within the constituencies the CBSS serve. The Board also provides a link to individuals and organizations with the resources, knowledge and contacts to help the College achieve its objectives.
The Board serves five main functions:

To advise the College, through the Dean, on issues that have the most significant impact on the success and growth of the College.

To communicate, endorse and advocate CBSS’s interests to external constituencies – in state and nationally.

To support and connect the College’s goals, programs, Centers, departments, faculty, students and staff to the community locally and nationally.

To assist the College in meeting its financial advancement objectives in identifying and cultivating significant forms of support from individuals and organizations.

To serve as a confidential sounding board to the Dean on issues pertaining to the advancement of the School and the achievement of its vision and goals.
The CAB meets 3-4 times each year in the Charleston area.
