Lunch and Learn Speaker Series

West Virginia State University Brings Weekly Speaker Series to Downtown Charleston

West Virginia State University is launching a Lunch and Learn Speakers Series beginning Wednesday, Jan. 24, at the new WVSU Center located at 107 Capitol St. in downtown Charleston. 

The weekly speakers series will run each Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m. beginning Jan. 24 and continuing through March 6.

The following speakers and topics are scheduled for the weekly series:
  • Jan. 24 -- Everyone Communicates—Few Connect, presented by Clinton Arnold, WVSU Assistant Professor of Marketing;
  • Jan. 31 -- Entrepreneurship and Taxes, presented by Susan Graves, CPA, WVSU Assistant Professor of Accounting;
  • Feb. 7 -- Safeguarding your Digital World, presented by Dr. Ali Alsinayyad, Director, WVSU Cybersecurity Innovation Center;
  • Feb. 14 -- What Read Aloud Does for Reading, presented by Dawn Miller, Executive Director, Read Aloud West Virginia;
  • Feb. 21 -- Writing to Learn: Discovering, Meaning, and Understanding, presented by Dr. Robert Wallace, Dean, WVSU College of Arts and Humanities;
  • Feb. 28 -- Why Capitol Street Has Its Name: A History of Our Capital City, presented by Dr. Billy Joe Peyton, Retired WVSU Professor of History; and 
  • March 6 -- Self-Care for Social Workers, presented by Crystal Price, MSW, LICSW, Mountain Care Network, Clinical Director. 
The sessions on Jan. 24, Jan. 31, Feb. 7 and Feb. 21 qualify for Continuing Professional 
Education for Certified Public Accountants.

The weekly Lunch and Learn series is free. 

Audience members are encouraged to bring a lunch and learn more about the topics being discussed.
Light refreshments will be available on site.




The WVSU Center is located at 107 Capitol St. in downtown Charleston.
