Message from the Vice President of Enrollment Management
and Student Affairs

Dear WVSU Students,

As you begin your Spring Break we would like to provide students with more specific details following President Anthony L. Jenkins message to the campus community on March 12, 2020.  To reiterate, all students are encouraged to frequently visit the WVSU Coronavirus COVID-19 webpage for updates.

Residence Halls
At this time the residence halls remain open for students who live on campus.  The Director of Housing and Residence Life has made a decision to suspend external visitors to residents until further notice.  All residents are encouraged to frequently visit the Housing and Residence Life webpage for updates and further guidance.  
 
Dining Hall
At this time the Goldston Dining Hall, Keith Café, Chopped & Wrapped and BRB will remain closed until further notice.  For your safety, as of March 14, 2020 we will provide “To-Go Meals” that will available for pick-up outside of the Goldson Dining Hall at the cashier’s stands. 
Brunch will be served from 10:45 am – 12:15 pm, and Dinner from 4:30 pm – to 6:00 pm.  All are encouraged to regularly visit the campus dining webpage for updates.
 
Fitness Center and Game Room
For your safety the Wilson University Union Fitness Center and Game Room will remain closed until further notice.  All are encouraged to frequently visit the Student Life and Engagement webpage for updates.
 
Counseling and Accessibility Services
The staff in the Office of Counseling and Accessibility Services are available for counseling services and please contact them at (304) 766-3168 or cas@wvstatu.edu.  If you are in a crisis situation or have an emergency please immediately call 911.
 
FamilyCare Health Center
The FamilyCare Health Center located in the Wilson University Union will continue with their standard hours of operations of Monday-Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. If you need immediate medical attention please call 911.
 
Financial Aid 
The Office of Financial Aid will work closely with the Division of Academic Affairs to ensure a smooth transition to online instruction for students who select this option.  For information about online instruction options please refer to the Message From The Provost March 12, 2020.  As a reminder, full-time enrollment is 12 credit hours for undergraduate students and 9 credit hours for graduate students.  Students who drop below full-time status may have their aid adjusted according to federal guidelines and contact your Financial Aid Counselor if you have questions.
 
 
Cashier’s Office
The staff in the Cashier's Office is available to answer questions you may have about your MyState Account and please contact them at (304) 766-3141 or cashier@wvstateu.edu.
 
Email
All students are encouraged to frequently check their email to ensure you read and/or respond to official WVSU communications.
 
Travel
For the sake of personal health and the well-being of the entire WVSU community we ask that students consider the risks involved with any travel.  Please consider that with any travel and all modes of public transportation there is a risk for exposure to COVID-19 and that potentially you will have to self-isolate or be quarantined upon return. 
 
As you know, this is a rapidly evolving pandemic which will required flexibility and understanding about disruptions to normal operations.  We will provide updates about any modifications to student services as necessary.
