M. Sue Woodward

M. Sue Woodward, M.A, ACUE Certified
 
Ms. Woodward is an instructor the Communications Department.  She began teaching at the university after receiving her Master's degree in Media Studies from WVSU in 2021 as an adjunct before becoming a full time instructor in the Fall of 2022 after a 40-year career as a fundraiser.
Originally from North Carolina, Ms. Woodward received a bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina Greensboro in Speech and Theatre. In 2016, Ms. Woodward began working with West Virginia State University as the Assistant Vice President for Advancement and VP for the WVSU Foundation.
She got her career start as a professional boy scout for twelve years in Florida, Washington D.C., and the United Kingdom.  She also worked and consulted for a variety of nonprofit organizations around the country after leaving scouting including the American Red Cross where she and her team raised over 820 million dollars in 2005 for the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and the Indian Ocean Tsunami. She is a published author and received the Fundraiser of the Year Award in 2012, from Fundraising Success Magazine.
