Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Makes $1,000 Donation to WVSU Healthy Grandfamilies Program

INSTITUTE, W.Va. – Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. presented a $1,000 donation to West Virginia State University (WVSU) Extension’s Healthy Grandfamilies program at the West Virginia State Leadership Conference held Sept. 29-30 at WVSU’s campus. WVSU Professor Emeritus Dr. Sonya M. Armstrong, a Zeta Phi Beta member, organized the conference.

The donation was used to purchase household supplies for flood victims and participants enrolled in the Healthy Grandfamilies program, which is dedicated to providing support and resources to grandparents raising their grandchildren and has significantly impacted communities across the state.

“We are so grateful for the support of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.,” said Healthy Grandfamilies Director Melissa Lilly. “Their donation will help us to continue providing critical services to grandparents and their families. We look forward to working together to create a brighter future for all families.”

Healthy Grandfamilies provides a wide range of assistance to grandparents, including advocacy, educational resources and direct services. The program has helped countless families navigate the challenges of raising children in non-traditional family structures and has been instrumental in creating stronger, healthier communities.

Additionally, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority’s mission also focuses on community improvement. Their national and local programs include the endowment of its National Educational Foundation, community outreach services and support of multiple affiliate organizations. Zeta chapters and auxiliary groups have dedicated numerous hours of voluntary service to educate the public, assist youth, provide scholarships, support organized charities and promote legislation for social and civic change.
