FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

West Virginia State University Day of Giving Challenge Online Donation Portal Now Open

INSTITUTE, W.Va. – The online donation portal for West Virginia State University’s Day of Giving Challenge is now open at https://dayofgiving.wvstateu.edu/.

The annual Day of Giving Challenge will take place Thursday, Feb. 23, with a goal of raising $200,000 to support student success, as well as reaching a participation goal of 250 donors giving in support of the Day of Giving Challenge. This year’s theme is “WVSU Alumni Who Are Changing the World – Alumni of Distinction.”

The university and the WVSU Foundation are hosting the Day of Giving Challenge to support scholarships as well as student activities such as athletics and special projects including the presidential scholarship.

The day will also feature the opportunity to donate to each of the four colleges at the university, the College of Arts and Humanities, the College of Business and Social Sciences, the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and the College of Professional Studies.

During the past year more than half of all WVSU students received scholarships, loans and grant support. Without these financial resources many students would not be able to continue their education.

The WVSU Foundation and university will use traditional mail, email and social media to spread the word to alumni and supporters about the Day of Giving.  Video messages from students, alumni, donors, and WVSU President Ericke Cage will be shared on the university’s social media channels beginning today and continuing through Thursday encouraging people to give in support of the university.

For more information on the Day of Giving Challenge or giving to WVSU, contact Belinda Fuller, assistant vice president for alumni relations and annual giving, at (304) 766-3387 or bfuller@wvstateu.edu
