FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

West Virginia State University Day of Giving Challenge Online Donation Portal Now Open

INSTITUTE, W.Va. – The online donation portal for West Virginia State University’s Day of Giving Challenge is now open at https://dayofgiving.wvstateu.edu/.

The university will mark its Founders Day on Thursday, March 17, with a Day of Giving Challenge designed to raise funds to support student success.

“We have opened the online donation portal today because there is such a buzz among our supporters wanting to participate in the Day of Giving Challenge this year,” said Belinda Fuller, executive director of alumni relations and annual giving. “Our supporters know that their generous donations make such a huge difference in the lives of our students and they can see firsthand the opportunities their contributions provide.”

The university and the WVSU Foundation are hosting the Day of Giving Challenge to support scholarships as well as student activities such as athletics and the marching band, and completion of the Lakin-Ray Field enhancements.

The day will also feature the opportunity to donate to each of the four colleges at the university, the College of Arts and Humanities, the College of Business and Social Sciences, the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and the College of Professional Studies.

The WVSU Foundation and university will use traditional mail, email and social media to spread the word to alumni and supporters about the Day of Giving. Video messages from students, alumni, donors, and WVSU Interim President Ericke Cage will be shared on the university’s social media channels beginning today and continuing through Thursday.

Authorized by the U.S. Congress as a land-grant institution under the Second Morrill Act of 1890, the West Virginia Legislature established WVSU, on March 17, 1891, to provide education to African American citizens of the state.
