West Virginia State University Online Criminal Justice Program Recognized Nationally

INSTITUTE, W.Va. – West Virginia State University’s (WVSU) online bachelor’s degree program in criminal justice has been recognized as one of the most affordable in the country by Online Schools Report.

WVSU’s criminal justice program was ranked No. 5 in the country among online programs on the list of the top 35 programs and was the only West Virginia school recognized.

“The criminal justice program at West Virginia State University was the first established program in the State of West Virginia and has grown into one of the largest undergraduate programs at the University,” said Dr. LeighAnn Davidson, chair of the Department of Criminal Justice. “Students study all components of the criminal justice system through courses focusing on legal studies, court procedures, policing, forensic investigations, and corrections from our excellent faculty, who have gained national recognition for their expertise and community engagement.”

Students in WVSU’s online program gain in-depth knowledge of the criminal justice system and its role in society. The curriculum aligns with the standards of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences.  Students take general education courses in the arts, humanities and sciences before beginning the 51 major credit hours.

Online Schools Report utilizes data from the National Center for Education Statistics, the Bureau of Labor Statics, Payscale, and the College Scorecard. Colleges are scored based on their commitment to online education, admission rates, student satisfaction, alumni debt, and speciality in the program in question.
