West Virginia State University President to Serve as Celebrity Chef for “Jazz & Jambalaya”

INSTITUTE, W.Va. – West Virginia State University (WVSU) President Dr. Anthony L. Jenkins will serve as a celebrity chef Sunday, June 16, during a cooking demonstration with Louisiana Chef Al Barron at the Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences of West Virginia.

“Jazz & Jambalaya” will feature the cooking demonstration from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Clay Center’s Walker Theater followed by a reunion concert by the Bob Thompson Unit beginning at 6:30 p.m. on the Clay Center’s main stage.

The event is presented by African American Philanthropy in Action and is part of FestivALL.

“I am excited to show off my cooking skills alongside my fellow celebrity chefs,” said President Jenkins, who will be joined by WSAZ news anchor Amanda Barren and the Charleston Gazette-Mail’s Food Guy Columnist Steven Keith, among others. “I think Chef Barron will be impressed by our culinary talents, and for those who turn out to watch, it will be an entertaining evening.”

Tickets to Jazz & Jambalaya are available at the Clay Center Box office or onlineand are $45 for the cooking demonstration and concert or $30 for the concert only.
