West Virginia State University’s Annual Cares Day Set for Saturday, April 21
INSTITUTE, W.Va. – West Virginia State University (WVSU) will conduct its sixth annual Cares Day on Saturday, April 21, when hundreds of volunteers fan out to perform service work at sites throughout the Kanawha Valley.
The day-long event brings together WVSU students, faculty, staff and alumni who will perform volunteer work on a variety of projects in support of area residents. More than 350 volunteers are expected to participate at more than 37 job sites during this year’s event.
Volunteers will be working on a variety of types of projects throughout the area that could include: clean-up, painting, tree trimming, digging or window washing. Other types of projects could involve working with youth, literacy education, serving meals or office work.
Cares Day will kick off at 8:45 a.m. when volunteers meet in the D. Stephen and Diane H. Walker Convocation Center to join members of their respective teams and participate in a 9 a.m. kick-off ceremony before departing campus for their various work sites.
