Looking for a fun and inexpensive outdoor activity to do with your kids? Try this!

Step 1:
Visit your local hardware or convenience store and pick up your colors.

Although paint swatches are your best option (they’re typically free and usually have a wider range of colors), anything that comes in various colors will do! Colored construction paper or even pipe cleaners could be a good alternative.

Fall is just around the corner, and the trees will be full of bright, beautiful autumn colors. We recommend picking up some oranges, yellows and reds!

Step 2:
Once you have your colors in hand, visit your local park and begin your color scavenger hunt! Make sure you have some sort of bag to keep all your colors and items in.

Your front yard or backyard could also be a catalyst for colors! Sometimes it just takes a keen eye. We found a stone that had some sky-blue colors on it, and it matched one of our swatches perfectly!

This time could also be an excellent opportunity to learn more about your child’s creative side! Where and how they look for specific colors might differ from what you expect.

Step 3:
Once you have found all (or most) of your colors, take them back home and lay them out. Seeing your colors and corresponding items in front of you can be fun!

Finally, take pictures and enjoy your masterpieces! Share the outcome of your activity online, or just keep the photos for yourself (as they are pretty aesthetically enjoyable to view).

This activity is a great, inexpensive way to make fun memories with your kids while enjoying a beautiful day.

Happy scavenging!
