Criminal Justice Career Fair set for Oct. 22 at West Virginia State University

INSTITUTE, W.Va. -- The West Virginia State University (WVSU) Office of Career Services and Co-operative Education in partnership with the WVSU Department of Criminal Justice will host a Criminal Justice Career Fair on Wednesday, Oct. 22, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Wilson University Union.

This event is free and open to the public and all majors are welcome.

“It is never too early to start career planning and practice interviewing in a comfortable environment,” said Sandy Maharaj, Director of Career Services and Co-operative Education at WVSU.

At the fair, employers will be available to discuss career opportunities within the law enforcement and criminal justice field. Twenty-one organizations are expected to attend including; the Appalachian School of Law, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Metro 911 of Kanawha County, U.S. Probation, the West Virginia State Police, Security Group Services LLC and the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. 

After a welcome speech to open the fair from Dr. Walter Stroupe, Chair of the Criminal Justice Department, representatives of the organizations will deliver short presentations and inform attendees about job opportunities and career options in the law enforcement and criminal justice fields.
