Curator of Art for Clay Center To Be
Featured Speaker at WVSU Power Lunch Series

Arif Khan, Mary Price Ratrie Curator of Art at the Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences, will be the guest speaker at West Virginia State University’s Power Lunch Series on March 6, 2012.  The event will take place at Noon in the McGhee Suites of Sullivan Hall.  The Power Lunch Series (PLS)  program is designed after Harvard University’s School of Management model.  It was initiated last year by the Institutional Advancement administrative area.

The PLS invites executives to join a small, select group of students holding leadership positions across campus for a discussion about the profession of the guest speaker.  The speaker is asked to address his/her professional field in a relaxed lunch setting with bright student leaders from one of the WVSU’s four colleges.

The sole criteria is that the speaker has signature authority within the organization where he or she is employed.  Mr. Khan was the speaker for the College of Arts and Humanities.  He has been curator of art at the Clay Center since August 2011.  Prior to that he served as Gallery Director at the Tamarind Institute, a world renowned fine art lithography workshop in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  He also served as Curator of the Governor’s Gallery, New Mexico Museum of Art, Santa Fe, New Mexico.  Mr. Khan has earned BA in History from Lawrence University, a MA in American Studies from the University of New Mexico, and an MA in Art Business from the Sotheby’s Institute, London, UK.

Previous speakers in the PLS include Patricia Alexander, Founder and CEO of Alexander Loan Review and Consulting, LLC; Steve Hedricks, Vice President of Bayer CropScience and Manager of the Institute Industrial Park; and Charles R. Patton, President and Chief Operating Officer of Appalachian Electric Power.
