Teaching Tuskegee Brings the Story of Red Tails into Classrooms

1/19/2012

West Virginia State University is committed to preserving the legacy of its alumni who were selected to be Tuskegee Airmen as well as all of those who served. To assist teachers who want to instruct their students on this sometimes overlooked aspect of history, a website "Teaching Tuskegee" has been created.

The site contains history as well as lesson plans and activities for 4th and 8th grade teachers who want to incorporate the Tuskegee Airmen story into the curriculum. To reach the site go to www.teachingtuskegee.com.

The website is a joint project of the WVSU History and Culture Committee, the Communications 405 class, the Charles R. Byrd Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society, and the West Virginia Humanities Council.
