Walk for Awareness of Domestic Violence and Breast Cancer

10/21/2011

The West Virginia State University NAACP will hold a Walkathon on Saturday October 29th from 10:00am to 12:00pm. The Walkathon will support Domestic Violence Month and Breast Cancer Awareness month. Participants are asked to wear Pink, Purple, or both colors in order to create a uniform appearance during the Walkathon.

Breast Cancer Survivors participate in the walk, and a speaker will finish the event with a presentation about her experiences in an abusive marriage. NAACP will also be selling ribbons for $1.00 to support Breast Cancer and Domestic Violence. These ribbons will be displayed on the walls of the University Union.  Refreshments will be provided outside, weather permitting, or inside Sullivan Hall. The Walkathon will begin behind the James C. Wilson University Union.
