West Virginia State University has announced that it's Student Employee of the Year is Ashley Johnson from Cross Lanes. She is an education major slated to graduate in December 2010.
The University employs approximately 300 students working in various departments across the campus. Supervisors are asked to submit a one-page letter nominating the employee of the year. According to Sandy Maharaj, Director of Career Services and Cooperative Education, the student must exhibit an ability to work effectively with faculty, staff and administrators; be an exceptional team player, and be motivated, and dependable.
A committee reviews the nominations to select the winner. Sandra Orr, Chair of the Education Department, recommended Ms. Johnson.
