Professor

Anne McConnell specializes in contemporary literature, literary theory, and ecocriticism from France, Latin America, and the United States. McConnell’s recent book, Stepping Off the Edge (Dalkey Archive Press, 2020), addresses the question of literary edges and endings in contemporary literature, including works by Anne Carson, Marie NDiaye, Paul Auster, Marguerite Duras, and Cesar Aira.  Her first book, Approaching Disappearance (Dalkey Archive Press, 2013) focuses on the work of French writer Maurice Blanchot, applying his thought to several short fictions.

McConnell’s most recent work emphasizes the relation of ecology and literature, appearing in the journals GeoHumanities and Humanities, and forthcoming in ISLE: Interdisciplinary Study of Literature and the Environment.  See CV for additional publications and conferences presentations.
