Health and Wellbeing

West Virginia State University offers a full range of benefits to help you and your eligible dependents stay healthy, build long-term financial security for retirement, meet educational goals and more.

We encourage employees to review their benefit coverage, covered dependents and beneficiaries on a regular basis. Life events provide the opportunity to prepare for the future. When these opportunities arise, please remember to call the Benefits Office for assistance in initiating appropriate changes to your benefit plans.

PEIA allows family status changes for health plans the month of the “qualifying event” and the two following months. For Mountaineer Flexible Benefits plans (dental/vision/spending accounts) you will have the month of and two months following a qualifying event to submit an election form and supporting documentation to your benefits coordinator.

PEIA Employees and their enrolled dependents may be eligible to continue current health coverage for a limited time under the federal Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA). COBRA is available
