Alumna
of the Year and Young Professional Achievement Award Winer at an awards dinner and class
reunion, Friday, Oct. 5, at 7:30 p.m. at the Embassy Suites in Charleston.

WVSU senior Edgar Lopez-Torres was one of 63 students from throughout the nation
selected
as 2018 HBCU Competitive Scholars by the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges
and Universities.

INSTITUTE, W.Va. – The John L. Dickinson Family has awarded West Virginia
State
University (WVSU) a $500,000 matching grant to support the University’s new nursing
program.

A Political Science degree from West Virginia State University provides a strong,
broadly-based liberal arts education. Students develop critical skills, including the ability
to
analyze complex social problems, to evaluate concepts of political thought, to collect and
consider information of political phenomena, and to apply this information in the context of
local, regional, national and international politics.

WVSU’s Creators Program opens its seventh season with a series of talks targeting authors, filmmakers, musicians and visual storytellers. The free Creators Talks will take place throughout the coming months at the WVSU Economic Development Center in Charleston, beginning Sept. 12.

A WVSU led research project has received a Vegetable Publication Award from the American Society for Horticultural Science (ASHS), in recognition of the most outstanding paper on vegetable crops published in 2017.
