WVSU Emergency Aid

What is emergency aid? 

Emergency aid supports individuals experiencing a financial unforeseen circumstance.

Award grants of up to $500 to eligible students experiencing a financial emergency — defined as an unforeseen expense that, if not resolved quickly, could lead to the student’s departure from the college and a loss of momentum toward completion. 

These funds do not require repayment and are intended to help people who are in high need of financial assistance. Once your application is complete, a committee will meet to discuss your award amount. 

About the application process:

  • The application contains sensitive questions. We recommend completing the application in a safe and private space.
  • You can expect to spend 20 minutes or less filling out your application.
  • Check your inbox! We will review your application and notify you of the decision as soon as possible.

Students must use their WVSU student email address to complete the application.

To apply for an Emergency Aid grant, students should:  

  • Be a degree-seeking student and meet your institution’s satisfactory academic progress requirements as of the date of the award. This includes a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher. 
  • Be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours during the academic term in which the Emergency Aid grant is awarded. 
  • Complete an Emergency Aid application using the WVSU Emergency Aid Google Form and include documentation of  their expenses following these guidelines: 
    • Eligible expenses include but are not limited to utilities, housing/rent, food, medical/dental, transportation and childcare. 
    • Not eligible are expected school expenses such as parking, fines, tuition, and room/board.
    • Examples of documentation: For a car repair, a student should provide a mechanic’s estimate. For backup childcare, a student should provide a bill from the backup childcare provider.
