Tutoring Services

The Tutoring Center, located within the Office of Student Success, provides free one-on-one peer tutoring to all currently enrolled West Virginia State University students. Our goal is to help students strengthen their understanding of course material, build confidence, develop effective study strategies, and achieve academic success.

Peer tutoring is available in a variety of subject areas, including mathematics, science, business, writing, and other courses based on tutor availability. Students are encouraged to stop by during tutoring hours or request an appointment using the “Request a Tutor” form above. Walk-ins are always welcome and are accommodated as tutor availability permits.

Our peer tutors are successful WVSU students who have earned at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA, have achieved sophomore standing or higher, and have demonstrated academic excellence in the subjects they tutor. Tutors provide guidance, encouragement, and learning strategies to help students become independent learners. While tutors are available to explain concepts, review course material, and assist with problem-solving, they do not complete homework assignments, projects, or take-home exams for students.
