🖤💛WVSU proudly highlights our students with a “Student Spotlight”! Want to know more about Amanda? Check it out below! ⬇️
📖Why did you pick WVSU and your major?
“I chose WVSU because of the scholarship opportunity through the Women’s Tennis Team, as well as the HBCU community aspect of the university. I chose my major in Communications because I love everything about Communications and learning about the process of communicating with people, in addition to social media. I love the ability to be creative and visually highlight my team via social media.”
🌎What other activities/organizations do you participate in at WVSU?
“I am a team captain for the Women’s Tennis Team where I also manage social media. I am also the Secretary for the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), where we get to network with working professionals, gain experience in the field, and explore employment/internship opportunities!”
🐝Do you have a favorite memory or achievement during your time at WVSU?
“I have a few achievements, the first being my 4.0 GPA that I have maintained throughout my time at WVSU while also being an athlete. I have also received the Female Scholar Athlete of the Year and Outstanding Sophomore Athlete Award during my time here. For tennis, I have been involved with both 1st Team All Conference awards, as well as being in the Top 3 Doubles for the Atlantic Region in 2023.”
🖤💛If you could give advice to any prospective student, what would it be?
“Go for it! Find something that you are interested in and just go after it. If you choose something you don’t like, then you won’t feel as fulfilled, and I think that is really important to loving what you do once you graduate. If you are interested in Communications, just know that the faculty is great and they want to see you grow and succeed throughout the program. It’s so much fun and I learn a lot about public relations and advertising. Follow your heart!”
