Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) is a valuable resource for those seeking practical advice on managing finances, raising children, maintaining good health and staying physically active. Drawing upon academic disciplines such as nutrition, psychology, economics, culinary science and sociology, FCS is a multidisciplinary field that aims to enhance the well-being of families and communities by offering research-based knowledge and principles that can be easily applied to their daily lives.

FCS empowers individuals and families to make informed decisions that positively impact their lives by providing helpful information on various topics such as parenting, budgeting, nutrition, and health. FCS professionals work in multiple settings, including schools, community centers, government agencies, and non-profit organizations, to provide educational programs and services to those in need. They use evidence-based approaches to design and implement programs tailored to the unique needs of the individuals and communities they serve.

Geographic coverage: The team works in partnership with individuals and organizations within the 18 counties in Southern West Virginia, including Cabell, Putnam, Kanawha, Wayne, Lincoln, Boone, Logan, Mingo, Raleigh, Summers, Wyoming, Mercer, McDowell, Clay, Nicholas, Greenbrier, Fayette, and Monroe.
