Agricultural Research & Extension Communications

Welcome to AgRE Communications!

WVSU Agricultural Research and Extension (AgRE) Communications is crucial in sharing important information about WVSU Extension programs, innovative agricultural technologies and research discoveries through written publications and digital media.

As the primary voice for Agricultural Research and Extension audiences, the department focuses on ensuring that its information is easily accessible, accurate and up to date; this helps raise awareness of WVSU Extension programs and provides valuable support to farmers, producers and industry professionals in making well-informed decisions to enhance their agricultural activities.

Work With Us

Our team supports the university’s USDA-funded agricultural research and Extension Service units. Below is a list of the services we provide, along with information on how to request a project.

Strategic Marketing & Planning | Request Services

Every project has a marketing aspect, whether you are planning a special event, developing a new program or launching a new Extension Service or research initiative. Involving professional communicators throughout your planning process will help ensure success. When you request our assistance in strategic planning, we will work with you and your team throughout the development process.

Graphic Design | Request Services

From brochures to posters to logos to digital images for social media, we offer complete graphic design support for your project needs. Jobs are completed on a request basis using professional-grade design software. Our Graphic Designer can also assist with logo usage requests and assuring that your materials align with the WVSU Brand & Graphic Identity Manual. To request graphic design services, complete the Graphic Design Request Form and a team member will be in touch.

Social Media | Request Services

When you consult with us, we can determine whether social media will work for you, help you establish a presence, choose a platform and strategize to ensure consistency and relevance of content. We also manage the WVSU Extension Service social media accounts and can assist with elevating your content through those platforms.

Photography | Request Services

We have digital photography equipment and can provide photographic support upon request. In addition, the University also has a full-time photographer whose services include professional headshots, event coverage and project-specific photography needs.

Videography | Request Services

We collaborate with the WVSU EDC’s Digital Production Specialist on video projects that support Extension and agricultural research. To request a video project, fill out the form linked above.

Media Relations & News Services | Request Services

Our department offers complete media relations services, including writing and distributing press releases, coordinating media coverage for events and working with staff to prepare for interviews. Press releases are a great way to increase exposure about upcoming events, recruit participants for programs, and share recent successes with a wider audience. We maintain a statewide media database and can target announcements to the appropriate media outlets. Also, if you are contacted by a member of the media about your work, contact us to help ensure you are prepared before speaking to members of the media.

Impact Writing | Request Services

Our team can assist with the preparation of impact reports to best illustrate the positive behavior change your work is having on the people of West Virginia and beyond. We also prepare and submit impact stories to the national Land-grant Impacts database website.

Promo Items & Displays | Request Services

We are happy to help you choose branded promotional items for your program or event and develop displays for use at events. We have worked with several vendors in this capacity and can help you choose the right materials.
