INSTITUTE, W.Va. – West Virginia State University’s (WVSU) Master of Biotechnology program has been ranked 27 in the nation for 2023 by Intelligent.com, an industry resource for online degree rankings and higher education planning. The company also recognized the program for Best Student-Faculty Ratio.
“The ranking is impressive as it contains many Ivy League and R1 universities,” said Dr. Naveed Zaman, dean of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. “This recognition speaks volumes about the quality of academics and research in the program. Congratulations to the Biotech family and students and WVSU for this extraordinary accomplishment.”
According to Intelligent.com, biotechnology plays a crucial role in developing products and technologies that improve the quality of life for humans. The company assessed 75 universities and colleges for the ranking, all of which offer graduate programs in biotechnology that award master’s degrees, and compared 139 education programs. They evaluated each program on the basis of flexibility, faculty, course strength, cost, and reputation. They then used a ranking methodology to calculate the Intelligent Score for each program on a scale from zero to 100. WVSU received a 77.07 Intelligent Score.
WVSU’s Master of Biotechnology program is delivered on-campus and requires 30 credits to graduate. Its affiliation with the research scientists of the Gus R. Douglass Institute for Land Grant Research provides opportunities to choose from a diverse variety of research projects.
