Typically held at the West Virginia State Capitol Building, the event will take place virtually due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The event will feature research presentations from students representing nine colleges and universities throughout the state. This year marks the third time WVSU has served as the lead organizer of the day’s events.
WVSU student research on display includes the following projects in the fields of biology, biomedical science, chemistry, computer science and genetics:
With the virtual format, students will engage in “synchronous commenting,” monitoring and responding to questions and comments posted within their presentations in real time. Judges will ask questions and evaluate presenters’ responses.
Held annually during the West Virginia legislative session, Undergraduate Research Day helps members of the West Virginia State Legislature and Executive Branch understand the importance of undergraduate scholarly activities by providing members with an opportunity to speak directly with the students whom these programs impact.
Undergraduate Research Day is sponsored by WVSU, Marshall University, West Virginia University, the University of Charleston, and West Virginia Science & Research, a division of the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission.
