ALUM CREEK, W.Va. — West Virginia State University (WVSU) Extension Service will host a free Woodlot Management Series workshop at the Claudia L. Workman Wildlife Education Center in Alum Creek on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 1 p.m. Participants will learn practical techniques for identifying trees in winter by observing bark, buds and other key features.
Each attendee will receive a winter tree identification guide and a hand lens to support their learning during and after the session.
This free workshop is open to all and welcomes landowners, educators and anyone interested in nature. Please dress appropriately for the weather and expect some light hiking outdoors as part of the program.
