INSTITUTE, W.Va. – West Virginia State University (WVSU) Extension Service, in conjunction with the West Virginia Urban Agriculture Conference, will host a make-and-take pollinator workshop Tuesday, May 1, at 6 p.m. at the Raglin Community Center in Dunbar.
“Join us for a discussion on how our native pollinators are doing and how they impact our world,” said Dr. Annette Ericksen, assistant program director for agriculture and natural resources at WVSU Extension Service. “Building nesting places for solitary bees is an excellent way to help our insect friends and keep our world beautiful and full of fruits and vegetables.”
Attendees will be provided the materials to decorate their own hanging pollinator habitat to support conservation efforts of local bees, as well as receive seed stock to grow plants that are key to pollinator survival.
Participants will also learn more about the upcoming Fifth Annual West Virginia Urban Agriculture Conference, being hosted at WVSU May 11-12.
The pollinator workshop costs $20 to attend, which will cover the cost of supplies. Registration is required and is available online at .
For questions and additional information, contact Ericksen at (614) 271-3005 or .
The Raglin Community Center is located at 142 Marshall Ave. in Dunbar.
