WVSU EDC and PPA Launch Free Podcasting Workshop for Youths

October 3, 2025

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia State University Economic Development Center (WVSU EDC), in collaboration with the Positive People Association (PPA), will host a six-week podcasting workshop designed to empower middle and high school students to share their stories and ideas. Launching October 13, the workshop series aims to cultivate creativity, enhance communication skills and provide hands-on experience in podcasting.

The immersive program will guide participants through the entire podcasting process—from scripting and recording to editing and publishing. Students will be able to utilize professional tools and techniques while developing essential skills in public speaking, interviewing and storytelling.

The series offers key highlights, including comprehensive learning in podcast creation and opportunities for creative expression through producing personal episodes. Participants can also gain insights into media careers and network with peers.

The series runs for six weeks, meeting on Mondays and Thursdays from 4 to 7 p.m. at the WVSU EDC, located at 1506 Kanawha Blvd. W. in Charleston. It is free for middle and high school students aged 11 to 18, but spaces are limited. Transportation is available upon request.

To register for the workshop or more information, contact WVSU EDC Director Kateira Hogan at (304) 720-1401 or kateira.hogan@wvstateu.edu .
