September 29, 2025

West Virginia State University (WVSU) Associate Provost and Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Micheal Fultz has been named to the 2025-2026 Emerging Leaders Program by the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO).

The program is designed for promising mid-level managers who want to advance in their higher education careers.

Now in its fifth year, the Emerging Leaders Program equips participants with skills to enhance their leadership abilities, foster collaborative cross-campus relationships, and build their professional networks. The program is designed for business officers who want to advance in higher education and focuses on leadership development, the evolving higher education business landscape, and communication and interpersonal effectiveness.

The 78 participants selected for this year’s cohort represent 69 higher education institutions across 31 states and the District of Columbia. The group is the largest in program history and was selected from the largest applicant pool yet. Thirty-eight colleges and universities have an Emerging Leader participating in the program for the first time.

“It is wonderful to see so many aspiring business leaders committing to our immersive professional development program—and so many additional colleges and universities supporting their staff members’ growth with NACUBO,” said NACUBO President and CEO Kara D. Freeman. “We look forward to helping these Emerging Leaders grow in their leadership capabilities to take back to their institutions. The future of higher education is bright!”

The program is a key component of NACUBO’s professional development offerings and will run through April 2026.
