Women’s Tennis Team to Play in NCAA Tournament

INSTITUTE, W.Va. – West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women’s tennis champion West Virginia State University (WVSU) is seeded third in this weekend’s NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Tournament at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
The Yellow Jackets finished the season with a 17-8 overall record including a spotless 10-0 conference mark. They will face sixth seeded Slippery Rock (12-8) at 3 p.m. Saturday. Host IUP (17-7), the second seed, will play seventh seeded Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association champion Shaw (25-2) at 1 p.m., with the final set for an undetermined time on Sunday.
This is the sixth consecutive appearance in the NCAA tournament for WVSU and the program’s highest seeding. Team members are Cora Berna, Diana Cotoros, Brittany Franco, Jordan Kerns, Charlotte Sandy, Amber Schneider, and Andreea Slusarciuc.
Sunday’s winner will advance to the Final 16 to be held in Surprise, Arizona beginning May 8.
