West Virginia State Women’s Tennis Weekend at the Greenbrier

INSTITUTE, W.Va. The West Virginia State University women’s tennis team will showcase the talent that made it the champion of the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) during a special match against Radford University to be played Sunday, March 3, at 1 p.m. at the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va.
The Yellow Jackets are coming off a 15-0 fall season that included winning both the WVIAC regular season and tournament titles. Junior Andreea Slusarciuc along with freshmen Brittany Franco and Diana Cotoros were named to the WVIAC All-Conference team, while Franco was also honored as the conference’s Freshman of the Year. The women’s tennis team is currently ranked 36 in the nation in NCAA Division II.
Radford is a NCAA Division I school and a member of the Big South Conference. The Highlanders finished last season with a 17-7 record.
The Greenbrier is offering tennis fans a special room rate of $229 for Saturday, March 2, for anyone wishing to spend the night before the match. To reserve a room at this special rate, contact the Greenbrier at (304) 536-1110.
On Saturday evening, family and friends, at their own expense, are invited to join the women’s tennis team for dinner at Draper’s Restaurant in the Greenbrier beginning at 6 p.m.
Yellow Jacket fans can travel to the match on the Amtrak Cardinal train, which will leave Charleston at 8:20 a.m. Sunday morning and arrive at the station across the street from the Greenbrier at 11:30 a.m. The Cardinal will depart at 5 p.m. to return to Charleston.
