INSTITUTE, W.Va. – West Virginia State University (WVSU) will give back to Kanawha Valley residents on Saturday, April 25, during the University’s third annual Cares Day.
Volunteers and job sites are still being sought to participate in Cares Day. The deadline to sign up to volunteer or register a job site is Friday, April 3.
The day-long event will bring together WVSU students, faculty, staff and alumni who will fan out across Kanawha and Putnam counties to perform volunteer work on a variety of projects in support of area residents. Last year, more than 325 volunteers performed over 1,300 hours of service during Cares Day.
All current and former Yellow Jackets are encouraged to lend a hand. Volunteers will receive a free t-shirt and be treated to a picnic meal on campus at the end of the day. Registration is required for volunteers and available online at .
Volunteers will be working on a variety of types of projects throughout the area that could include: roadside clean-up, painting, tree trimming, digging or window washing. Other types of projects could involve working with youth, literacy education, serving meals or office work.
