West Virginia State University to Host “You be the Chemist Challenge” April 13

INSTITUTE, W.Va. – West Virginia State University (WVSU) will host the annual Dow Chemical “You be the Chemist Challenge” beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, April 13, in the James C. Wilson University Union.
Students from 11 area middle schools will be competing in the challenge, an interactive academic contest that encourages students in grades 5-8 to explore chemistry concepts and their real-world applications.
More than 60 competitors are expected from the following area middle schools: Students compete against one another through numerous rounds of multiple-choice questions that test their knowledge of chemistry concepts, important discoveries and chemical safety awareness.
Sponsored locally and nationally by Dow Chemical, the challenge is an academic competition created by the Chemical Educational Foundation. For more information about the competition, visit the Foundation’s website at .
