INSTITUTE, W.Va. — West Virginia State University (WVSU) will participate in the upcoming National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 25, by hosting a drop-off site on campus from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This nationwide initiative offers free, safe, and anonymous disposal of unused or expired medications at designated, local drop-off sites.
The WVSU collection site will be located outdoors between Wallace Hall and Hamblin Hall in Parking Lot A (please see campus map), offering easy access for students, faculty, staff, and community members.
Take Back Day aims to prevent medication misuse and protect the environment by encouraging proper disposal of medications that might otherwise be kept in homes or improperly discarded. By participating, community members play an important role in reducing the risk of prescription drug abuse and accidental poisoning.
Accepted items include tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription medications. Vaping devices and cartridges will also be accepted, provided that lithium batteries have been removed. Please note that liquids (including those in bottles), syringes, and illegal drugs will not be accepted.
For more information about the WVSU event, please contact Kellie Toledo, Director of Counseling & Wellness Services, at toledoke@wvstateu.edu or (304) 766-3262.
