INSTITUTE, W.Va. – West Virginia State University (WVSU) will sponsor an Alcohol and Drug Symposium on Thursday, Oct. 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the James C. Wilson University Union.
The event is free and open to the public and will include a resource fair focusing on services available in the community.
Assistant Special Agent in Charge David W. Gourley of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s Charleston District Office, will deliver a keynote presentation entitled “Drug Trends and Community Impact,” at 12:30 p.m. in room 134 of the University Union.
Additional presentations include alcohol and consent, alcohol and academics, and Naloxone (also known as Narcan) training.
The Alcohol & Drug Symposium is a collaborative effort between the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission, WVSU Counseling and Accessibility Services, WVSU CHOICES Peer Educators and WVSU Student Life and Engagement to raise awareness about the impact of alcohol and other drugs on our community.
