West Virginia State University Sponsors Student Professional Day April 2

INSTITUTE, W.Va. — West Virginia State University (WVSU) will sponsor its first Student Professional Day “Out of the Jeans and Into the Suits” on Wednesday, April 2, in room 134 of the Wilson University Union.
The event is free to all WVSU students, but pre-registration is required.
The purpose of the event is to equip students with tools necessary to succeed after graduation.
Students may check in beginning at 9 a.m. on April 2, and at 10 a.m. they will have the opportunity to get their photograph taken at a Professional Head Shots station. From 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and between 1:15 p.m. and 2 p.m., students visit a series of “Professional Pit Stops” to gain tips from local business professionals on topics such as; Your Digital Footprint, Resume Evaluation, Interview Preparation and Dressing and Conducting Yourself as a Professional.
At 12:30 p.m. participants may attend the Generation Charleston Employment Panel during which young area business leaders will discuss what it means to be a professional.
The Student Professional Day will conclude with a dining etiquette program from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in McGhee Suites led by a certified corporate etiquette and protocol advisor, Pam Harvit.
Harvit is a popular nationally known speaker who has presented to executives and employees of medical schools, hospitals, universities and many other organizations. She is also a featured columnist for The Charleston Gazette-Mail.
During this five-course meal, students will learn proper dining etiquette for a business function. This event also requires pre-registration and is free to WVSU students.
