INSTITUTE, W.Va. — West Virginia State University (WVSU) will host a full roster of Homecoming activities kicking off on Thursday, Oct. 10, and concluding on Saturday, Oct. 12, with the annual Homecoming football game.
Homecoming event registration and ticket pickup begins Thursday, Oct. 10, and will run from 1-5 p.m. at the Embassy Suites in Charleston. The WVSU National Alumni Association Board Meeting will take place at 3 p.m. at Embassy Suites.
The Homecoming Coronation and crowning of Mr. and Miss State will take place from 4-6 p.m. Thursday in the P. Ahmed Williams Auditorium of Ferrell Hall.
Also on Thursday, there will be a Homecoming Mixer at 7 p.m. at the WVSU Center located at 107 Capitol Street in Charleston. This free event will offer light hors d’oeuvres and refreshments as well as a cash bar.
Friday’s events begin at 8:30 a.m. with the ‘W’ Club Meeting at James C. Wilson University Union, room 131. Homecoming event registration and ticket pickup will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday at the Embassy Suites in Charleston.
The annual ROTC Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. in the lobby of the Walker Convocation Center. An ROTC Hall of Fame Open House will follow from 12:30-4 p.m. at the Ferguson-Lincoln Building.
A Homecoming Cookout will take place from 2-4 p.m. on Friday at the WVSU Student Plaza located outside the James C. Wilson University Union. At 3 p.m. on Friday, gather for an alumni Homecoming group photo with WVSU President Ericke S. Cage and university mascot Stinger in the WVSU Student Plaza.
The Homecoming Awards Banquet will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at Embassy Suites. Join the National Alumni Association for the William L. Lonesome Awards Dinner and Class Reunion to honor alumni award winners and recognize classes ending in 4 and 9 who are celebrating reunion years.
The Step Show will start at 8:30 p.m. Friday in Fleming Hall, Mark Cardwell Court. All Greek organizations will be represented. Tickets are $5 for WVSU students with ID, and $10 for general admission.
The ‘W’ Club Homecoming Dance will be held at 10 p.m. at Embassy Suites. Admission is $20.
Saturday’s events kick off with the ‘W’ Club Sports Hall of Fame Induction Brunch at 8:30 a.m. in the James C. Wilson University Union. Admission to the brunch is $15.
The Homecoming parade and tailgating will start at 10:30 a.m. on the WVSU campus, followed by the Homecoming Family Fun Zone, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the WVSU campus at Earl Lloyd Way. The Family Fun Zone will offer games and activities for children of all ages, as well as food from local vendors.
The Homecoming football game against Concord University kicks off at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Dickerson Stadium. Admission to the game is $20. New this year, premium parking closest to the stadium in parking lots G, G-West, R and T1 will be available at a cost of $20.
Homecoming festivities conclude with the WVSU National Alumni Association Homecoming After Party. The party begins at 10 p.m. at Embassy Suites and will feature the funk and old school R&B music of Bizhar followed by DJ Fatcat. Admission is $20.
