CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The State Capitol building will be swarmed by hundreds of Yellow Jackets on Tuesday, Feb. 23, for West Virginia State University Day (WVSU) at the Capitol.
The annual event will bring WVSU students, administrators, faculty and staff to Charleston to meet with West Virginia lawmakers, University alumni and the public from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“Throughout this year, West Virginia State University celebrates 125 years as an institution dedicated to service, access and opportunity benefitting the State of West Virginia and its citizens,” said WVSU President Brian O. Hemphill. “At West Virginia State University Day at the Capitol, and throughout the year, the West Virginia State family has a unique opportunity to reflect upon our significant service to the communities in which we live and work.”
With interactive displays, the free event invites the public to witness the University’s commitment to student excellence and support for the state’s economy.
More than 40 displays will be set up throughout the upper rotunda of the State Capitol presenting the variety of educational offerings to be found at WVSU, as well as information on student services, Yellow Jacket athletics, admissions and alumni events.
WVSU Day at the Capitol is one of many events throughout the year celebrating the 125 anniversary of the University’s founding. For a complete list, visit .
