INSTITUTE, W.Va. – Nearly 200 students will graduate from West Virginia State University (WVSU) on Saturday, Dec. 12, during a commencement ceremony beginning at 10 a.m. in the D. Stephen and Diane H. Walker Convocation Center.
“Commencement is always a special time as we welcome the newest alumni of West Virginia State University,” said WVSU President Brian O. Hemphill. “We join together as a State family to celebrate the hard work, dedication and countless hours of studying these students have put in to earn to the distinction of becoming college graduates.”
Kyle Mork, president of Energy Corporation of America (ECA), will serve as the keynote speaker for the ceremony.
Mork leads ECA, a privately held company that actively pursues the exploration, extraction, production and transportation of natural gas and oil, both in the United States and around the world. ECA owns and operates approximately 4,600 wells and 5,000 miles of pipeline in North America.
Mork began his career with Halliburton Energy Services as a completions engineer before moving to ECA as a drilling engineer in the company’s Houston, Texas, office. Since that time he has held various positions throughout the organization focused on operations and management. He has a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Cornell University, and a MBA degree from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
In addition, Mork is chairman of the board of the Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences of West Virginia, and also serves on the nonprofit ECA Foundation Board of Directors, the USC Mork Family Department Advisory Board, the Cornell Engineering College Council, and the Cornell Football Association Board.
WVSU holds commencement ceremonies in December and May of each year. The December commencement ceremony also recognizes students who completed their degree qualifications during the summer.
