INSTITUTE, W.Va. – The annual West Virginia State University (WVSU) Black and Gold Gala will take place, Saturday, May 9, at the Charleston Marriott Town Center.
Presented by WVSU and the WVSU Foundation, the black tie event recognizes the generosity of donors and community leaders while raising funds to further support student scholarships and educational programs at the University.
“This truly is an evening to celebrate and showcase West Virginia State University,” said WVSU President Brian O. Hemphill. “And to say thank you to those who have supported our University and students, especially student scholarship programs. The outpouring of support from alumni, community leaders and friends is inspiring and vital to making sure that a new generation of Yellow Jackets can obtain an affordable, high quality education at State.”
The evening will begin at 7 p.m. with a reception, followed by the program recognizing supporters of the University at 7:30 p.m. After the program, the reception will continue leading to an evening of dancing with live music.
Musical entertainment during the reception will be provided by the Las Vegas-based Woody Woods Ensemble featuring Toscha Comeaux. Dance music will be provided by The Motown Sounds of Touch Group.
“The Black & Gold Gala is becoming a tradition that people look forward to each year,” said WVSU Foundation President Patricia Schumann. “We are especially grateful to our sponsors whose contributions not only make this very special evening possible but enhance students’ educational experience in so many ways.”
