INSTITUTE, W.Va. — The West Virginia State University (WVSU) College of Arts and Humanities today announced a new collaboration with the Montclaire String Quartet beginning with the fall 2015 semester.
The quartet, formerly the resident quartet of the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra (WVSO), is now the Quartet in Residence at WVSU.
The Quartet’s first recital at WVSU will occur in the Fannin S. Belcher Theatre of the Davis Fine Arts Building on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. This performance is free and open to the public. A reception will follow and light refreshments will be served.
The program features chamber music masterworks by Halvorsen, Shostakovich and Dvorak. The Quartet consists of Anton Shelepov, violin I; Cristian Fatu, violin II; Bernard Di Gregorio, viola; and Andrea Di Gregorio, cello, and each member serves as a principle player of their respective section within the WVSO. They will be joined by pianist Victoria Martirosyan-Fatu, assistant professor of music at WVSU, for this performance.
