INSTITUTE, W.Va. — West Virginia State University (WVSU) has adopted a new tuition waiver program for dependents of full-time University employees. Beginning with the fall 2020 semester, WVSU will waive $1,500 of tuition per semester for eligible dependents of full-time employees.
“West Virginia State has a long history of having dedicated, hard-working faculty and staff, many of which are alumni of the University themselves,” said WVSU Interim President Dr. R. Charles Byers. “This new tuition waiver shows our commitment to support our employees and their families.” Employees must hold a permanent, benefits-eligible position and must have completed 6 months of service prior to the beginning of the semester for which the waiver is requested. Students who are eligible may receive this waiver for 8 total semesters or until completion of their first bachelor’s degree at WVSU. Students who receive the waiver must maintain a 2.0 or greater GPA and successfully complete at least 67 percent of attempted coursework to continue to receive the waiver. For the fall 2020 semester, employees have until August 21 to apply for the waiver. To read the complete policy and to view the application, please click and look under the Tuition Waivers tab.
