INSTITUTE, W.Va. – Seeking to bolster economic development in the Kanawha Valley by supporting minority entrepreneurs, the Black Business Association Supporting Entrepreneurs (BBASE) will host its next free, open-forum networking and membership event at the West Virginia State University (WVSU) Economic Development Center Thursday, July 11, at 5:30 p.m.
The Rev. Matthew J. Watts, president and CEO of Hope Community Development Corp., is scheduled to speak.
“We’ll be discussing recent talks with the State of West Virginia on minority businesses’ set-aside contracts and hearing Rev. Watts’ take on the recent Tri-State Minority Supplier Development Council meeting,” said Sandra Moss, WVSU extension agent and BBASE cofounder.
BBASE was launched in January by WVSU Extension Service to promote entrepreneurship, stimulate growth and serve as a resource for black-owned businesses by providing networking and mentoring opportunities.
The WVSU Economic Development Center is located at 1506 Kanawha Blvd. West in Charleston.
