The Office of Academic Affairs at West Virginia State University has announced Ryan Kendrick as the University’s Director of Registration and Records and Dr. Carolyn Stuart as the University’s EEO Compliance Office/Title IX Coordinator.
Kendrick is a graduate of the University of Kentucky, having earned a master’s degree in public administration. He is formerly the registrar at Niagara University in Niagara Falls, New York, where he gained extensive experience in modernizing processes and adopting new technology. Kendrick is originally from Pike County, Kentucky, and is a fan of traditional music and “Mountain Stage.” The Office of Registration and Records, under his leadership, will be undergoing a facelift to its existing location in Ferrell Hall.
Stuart is a native West Virginian from the southernmost part of the state. She received undergraduate degrees from Bluefield State College, a master’s degree from Marshall University and a doctorate from Virginia Tech. She holds an Advanced Graduate Certificate in Race and Social Policy.
In the various roles throughout her career she established West Virginia’s Office of Minority Affairs and the Title IX responsibilities that the office adheres to. As COO of a primary health care center she provided oversight of Title IX, and as Director of the Counseling Center at Halifax Community College she was responsible for ensuring that counseling staff were trained on Title IX and that supports were in place for those needing them. She is a Certified Title IX Investigator and on track to receive a Title IX Coordinator’s Certificate. Her training as a counselor and Certified Forensic Counselor (Diplomate) will enhance her ability to perform the duties of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Compliance Officer and Title IX Coordinator. Her office is located in 416 Wallace Hall.
