INSTITUTE, W.Va. – Gain advice on public relations and promotion at West Virginia State University’s (WVSU) next Creators Program event.
West Virginia native Burke Allen, CEO and Chief Media Strategist of Allen Media Strategies in Washington, D.C., will discuss “Public Relations for the Independent Contractor” on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017, at 7 p.m. at the WVSU Economic Development Center (EDC) in Charleston. “In today’s digital world, anyone from anywhere can produce content…from publishing books, to making music, even movies,” Allen said. “The question is…how do you then promote it? I’ll tell you how…and it”s easier than you think.”

Allen also represents West Virginia clients such as filmmaker and graphic novelist Daniel Boyd, a retired WVSU communications professor; bestselling author Homer Hickam; Dreama Denver, wife of the late “Gilligan’s Island” star Bob Denver and head of The Denver Foundation and; “America’s Got Talent” winner Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr.
In addition, Allen is the author of “Becoming Semi Famous,” and is a regular contributor to various industry publications.
