Empower Your Voice: WVSU EDC and PPA Launch Free Podcasting Workshop for Youth

March 31, 2025

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The West Virginia State University Economic Development Center (WVSU EDC), in collaboration with the Positive People Association (PPA), will be hosting a six-week podcasting workshop designed to empower middle and high school students to share their stories and ideas.

Launching on April 7, this workshop aims to cultivate creativity, enhance communication skills and provide hands-on experience in podcasting.

This immersive program will guide participants through the entire podcasting process—from scripting and recording to editing and publishing. Students will be able to utilize professional tools and techniques while developing essential skills in public speaking, interviewing and storytelling.

The workshop offers key highlights, including comprehensive learning in podcast creation and opportunities for creative expression through producing personal episodes. Participants can also gain insights into media careers and network with peers.

Starting April 7, the series will run for six weeks, meeting on Mondays and Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the WVSU EDC and PPA Studio, 1506 Kanawha Blvd. W. in Charleston. It is free for middle and high school students aged 11 to 18, but spaces are limited. Transportation is available upon request.
